In the halls of fashionable medieval houses the dresser occupied a position of pre-eminence and
upon it were displayed the flagons, cups and plate reflecting the status and prestige of the owner.
Today we make dressers and sideboards using many of the decorative details, basic shapes and
proportions of the traditional originals. Of course, the storage requirements vary much
more and the interior is now quite likely to contain hi-fi equipment, a TV or even a computer
as these images illustrate. However, the dresser still works superbly in its traditional
role to store cutlery, crockery, napkins and tableware and of course to display fine glassware,
plates and decorative items.
